 It turns out the two pop-science geeks are a perfect match. Danger Mouse pushes Mercer's gorgeous, existential tunecraft outward with Day-Glo dynamics. "'Cause they know, and so do I /The high road is hard to find," Mercer sings on the opening chorus of Bells. The lyrics are about the loneliness of decision-making. But what sweeps you up are the sweet, ascending verses, the rolling chorus and the Danger Mouse touches: analog-synth swirls, slo-mo kick drums, a melancholy bass line — hip-hop for turned-on shut-ins. JIMI HENDRIX - VALLEYS OF NEPTUNE (LEGACY)
JIMI HENDRIX GIVEAWAYS AT THE PIZZA PARTY!
 What depths are there to the Hendrix archives and legacy? This is a "newly curated" album of 12 recordings, centred on tracks laid down in a four-month period in 1969. Some are scarcely revelatory, such as the original Jimi Hendrix Experience version of "Hear My Train a Comin''' except, of course, if this music is new to the listener, in which case, the experienced fan will be able to hear the sound of newcomers' jaws hitting the floor. Add in a Cream cover and the title track now with bassist Billy Cox on board – and it hits the peaks. BUY CD

 Meat Loaf stars as Travis W. Redfish, a farm boy with a genius for electric engineering that he eventually parlays into the title of World's Greatest Roadie. En route, he falls for groupie Lola Bouilliabase (Kaki Hunter) and helps pursue her dream of meeting rock idol Alice Cooper (playing himself). Their pursuit of Alice leads them on a wild chase across the country, complete with 1970s road movie staples such as barroom brawls, car chases, and burly truckers. Blondie, Roy Orbison, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and Hank Williams Jr. all make appearances, and Art Carney has a nice bit as Travis's father.
