FUTURE SOUNDS & WOXY PRESENT - THE RUMBLE AUSTIN AT BEERLAND THURSDAY, FEB. 11TH!
Monthly indie rock club nights changing the future of touring and promotions....
 Headlining this inaugural party is TV TORSO, someone we've been enjoying plenty on the WOXY airwaves with a touch of Spoon and a touch of class in their sound.
DIRTY DANCING will also perform. This is some dark music, think Tom Waits meets The Bad Seeds. This act could break out because after all, no one puts baby in a corner.
Opening up the Rumble is THE HAPPEN-INSReminiscent of when The Stones bled old Blues records starting out, The Happen-Ins have had their fair share of nights with their John Lee Hooker records.
The WOXY DJ's will be handling the music, as they always do, between the acts and did we already mention that this party is FREE?

Greetings music lovers,
Monday Feb. 8th is the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). In 2012 the Girl Scouts (GSA) will celebrate their centennial. I'm proud to say that I was a cub and boy scout, back in the '50s and '60s before the BSA allowed a silly phobia to cloud their vision.
With parental encouragement, I advanced all the way to Eagle scout.
I learned so much in my 9 years of scouting that still benefits me practically every day. Sure, I learned all the usual stuff people associate with scouts, but I also learned the value of volunteering and recycling - two things that return much more than what you give.
Thank you BSA, and Happy 100th!

RECKLESS KELLY LIVE AT WATERLOO TUESDAY, FEB. 9TH AT 5PM
 Led by brothers Willy and Cody Braun, alternative country-rock outfit Reckless Kelly formed in Bend, OR, before relocating to Austin, TX, in January 1997. The Brauns had previously toured with their father in Muzzie Braun & the Boys, a Western swing band. Reckless Kelly's debut album, Millican, appeared in 1998; Acoustic: Live at Stubb's and Day both followed two years later, after which David Abeyta replaced Pollock on lead guitar. Under the Table and Above the Sun from 2003 began the band's relationship with the high-profile Sugar Hill label and won the hearts of the music press and honky tonkin' legend Joe Ely, who sang the band's praises in interviews. Wicked Twisted Road was released in 2005, and the next year the live album Reckless Kelly Was Here, which featured songs from all of their previous studio records, as well as three covers, and truly captured the band's stage presence, came out. Bulletproof appeared from Yep Roc in 2008.
SPEAK LIVE AT WATERLOO WEDENSDAY, FEB. 10TH AT 5PM
 Forever questing for innovation, SPEAK invoke timeless melodies in energetic, synth-laden anthems. The band met through mutual friends in 2008, rising from the remnants of electro-pop band Jupiter-4. With frontman Troupe Gammage joins University of Texas students Nick Hurt (guitar) Joey Delahoussaye (bass) and Jake Stewart (drums). Hurt and Delahoussaye are guitar performance majors. Since then, SPEAK has signed to Playing in Traffic Records and recorded their debut EP with producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith. As they enter the new year, the band prepares themselves to release their debut EP to be followed by a full length later in 2010.
HANNIBAL LOKUMBE AT WATERLOO FRIDAY, FEB. 12TH AT 5PM SHARP!
(Playing w/ a Jazz Quartet and Choir singers)
 Lokumbe’s journey has taken him from the cotton fields of Elgin, Texas – where he was first inspired by the spirituals and hymns of his grandparents to the stages of Carnegie Hall and much of the world.
At age thirteen he was given a trumpet by his mother. A year later his band The Soul Masters was backing up icons such as Jackie Wilson, Otis Redding, Etta James, Lightning Hopkins and T. Bone Walker.
Lokumbe is the recipient of numerous awards: the Bessie’s, the NEA, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He has composed works for The Kronos String Quartet, as well as the Philadelphia, Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit and Houston Symphonies. His groundbreaking opera African Portraits was performed and recorded by The Chicago Symphony under the direction of Daniel Barenboim and has been performed nearly two hundred time since its November 11, 1990 Carnegie Hall debut. His works range from string quartets to full orchestral and choral compositions.
